LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon successful completion of the DPMS and the fulfillment of the expected learning outcomes of each course, students will:

  • Possess demonstrated knowledge at the postgraduate level in the fields of Administration and Management in Marine Science and Technology.
  • Are able to understand, manage, and make decisions on critical administrative and techno-economic matters in the operation of shipping businesses and activities.
  • Understand issues arising from contemporary developments in the fields of management and technology in shipping.
  • Are able to promote the broader economic development of the country and of Greek businesses in the field of naval, maritime, and port activities.
  • Are able to pursue doctoral-level postgraduate studies in the Management and Technology of Shipping.
  • Can contribute to the collaboration between the Academic Community, the Armed Forces, organizations, and businesses for the acceptance, use, and dissemination of the individual subjects of the DPMS.
  • Are able to collect, process, analyze, and interpret maritime data and information in order to form reasoning and judgments on economic, administrative, strategic, financial, and technological matters related to the shipping sector.

Upon successful completion of the DPMS, students will possess advanced postgraduate-level knowledge in maritime economics, statistical data analysis, risk analysis and information systems in shipping, management of shipping businesses, supply chain and ports, navigation and telecommunications systems, energy management and conservation on ships, and the organization and management of maintenance processes in shipping. Students acquire synthetic skills in these subjects both at a theoretical level of understanding their framework and methodologies, and at the level of application and operational use. The individual expected learning outcomes of the DPMS are described in detail for each course in the corresponding syllabus.
